Secret Hacks to Build A Social Media Dashboard in 60 Minutes.

No doubt you have read, heard and seen on television how others have used social media to successfully promote themselves and their business.

Millennials appear to be the most successful practitioners.

I must admit in the past my British cynicism dismissed social media as a frivolous past time and not for my generation.

However social media has become a mechanism to overcome my introverted nature and my need to grow my business. Regardless of whether you have an extrovert or introvert nature social media can be a low-cost way to effectively communicate with customers and friends which means social media is for you.

Tip keep your social media business and family accounts separate.

You may be afraid setting up a personalised dashboard to monitor your social media activities could be frustrating and to technical a faraway dream, but it is closer than you think. Let me show you how.

What you will need.

  • Microsoft Windows desktop or laptop computer.
  • Install Microsoft Power BI Desktop application (https://powerbi.microsoft.com/en-us/desktop/). Click advanced download options if you need 64-bit version. It’s free.
  • You could use a tablet but you might find developing a dashboard on your device challenging.
  • If you watched the graphic above you may have noticed the dashboard has six tabs (pages). Each tab had multiple visuals. You probably won’t need or want to build all the visuals which is why I stated you can build your dashboard in sixty minutes.

To keep the learning points byte sized (bite – forgive the pun) I’ll present a lesson for each visual. Another reason for this approach is if you wish to install particular visuals or review a visual you will be able to easily navigate to the lesson you wish to implement or re-examine.
